Coach Tyler Gennarelli

Coach Tyler began his swimming career in Middletown at the age of 10. He participated on both the Club Team and High School Team. Tyler’s spotlight strokes were butterfly and freestyle. He excelled in sprint events. Coach Tyler was a State Meet qualifier in 2011. Swimming honors include; Scholar Athlete Award, State Award, School Record Holder, HS MVP 2011 and Shoprite Athlete of the month, January 2011. Tyler enjoys coaching because it challenges him. He also enjoys passing on his experience and knowledge to MVA swimmers. Coach Tyler coaches our Torpedo Ray I Program.

Coach Jen Lidstrom

This is Coach Jen’s 3rd season with MVA.  She has been a lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor for 5 years, and has enjoyed working with every group of swimmers she’s taught. She is currently studying Biology at SUNY Orange, and is on their cross-country team. Jen coaches our Level 1 Novice and Level 2 Junior groups. She is excited to work with our new swimmers and hopes for a fun and successful season

Coach Elie Kurzum

This is Elie’s first season with MVA and 2nd year coaching. He swam for the Washingtonville Seahawks for 12 seasons, setting many club and ESSL records during his time there. He also was a 6 year varsity swimmer for Washingtonville, captaining their Varsity Swim team for 2 years. His favorite stroke is Butterfly, and still considers himself a sprinter. Elie coaches our Level 2 Junior swimmers. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and love of swimming is a welcome addition to the MVA program, and he is pumped for a strong season!

Coach Mike Reineke (head coach)

Mike began his swimming career as a founding member of the Washingtonville Seahawks, and swam 7 years for the club. He was also a 5 year Varsity swimmer/diver for Washingtonville High School, captaining the team his senior year. He was an NCAA diver for 4 seasons at SUNY Oneonta, each season placing in the top 8 at SUNYAC Championships. During that time he was runner up for Oneonta Athletics Rookie of the Year in ’01 and Valor Award in ’03. He won a Gold medal at the ’06 Empire State Games Masters Diving Competition, and a Silver medal in ’08. After graduating college, he began his coaching career, gaining experience at the collegiate, high school, and age group levels while earning a Masters’ Degree in Childhood Education from Mount St. Mary’s College. In addition, Mike ran the Seahawks’ Swim Lessons program for 15 years and has run the Town of Hamptonburgh’s Summer Swim Lessons since 2001, as well as providing special needs lessons and adult swim lessons to surrounding communities. Mike brings his enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and knowledge to MVA, encouraging his athletes to “do their best, work hard, and have fun!” His rapport with his athletes is evident and is essential in developing and fostering a love for Swimming and Diving. Mike is a Level 2 ASCA coach, Water Safety Instructor, and USA Diving certified coach.

Coach Erin Doherty

This is Erin’s 3rd season coaching with MVA. Prior to coaching, she swam for both MVA and the Minisink Girls Varsity swim team. She also assists Coach Golden with the Boys Varsity swim team during the winter. In addition to coaching, she has been a lifeguard and swim instructor for the last 4 years, and enjoys teaching children to swim. She is currently studying New Media at SUNY Orange. Erin coaches our Level 3 Age Group swimmers, and loves working with swimmers of different age ranges and abilities. She hopes to improve every swimmer she works with and looks forward to seeing them

Coach Jonathan Williams

This is Coach Jonathan’s 2nd season with MVA, and 8th season of coaching. He swam for Washingtonville for 4 seasons, as well as swimming with SUNY Brockport. In addition to coaching, Jonathan is highly involved with the Cornerstone Masonic Lodge and Historical Society in Monroe. Jonathan coaches our Level 3 Pre-Senior group. He is looking forward to another fun season and is anticipating a lot of dropped times this year!
